Dutch Mini Rally 2025 – A Scottish adventure to remember

After 18 editions full of unforgettable moments, we thought we had pretty much seen it all. But nothing could be further from the truth. In 2025 we returned to breathtaking Scotland – the land of lochs, rugged hills and endless single track roads. And this time we went one step further: we discovered the magical Isle of Skye. An unknown piece of paradise that we visited.

Monday, April 28 – The start on the border with Schotand

The rally started quite appropriately at England’s First and Last Inn. Around noon, the participants gathered in the coziness of the pub, where a hearty lunch prepared us for what was to come. The briefing followed – the go-ahead for five days of competition, camaraderie and adventure. With route book in hand that afternoon, we drove along quiet, winding roads toward Loch Ard. There, by the water, the MacDonald Forrest Hills Hotel and the first stories at the bar awaited.

Tuesday, April 29 – Going north into the mountains

We moved on, deeper into the heart of Scotland. The route led us past glistening lakes, over rugged mountain passes and through iconic landscapes like Glencoe – a true highlight. The silence, the space, the rugged beauty … breathtaking. At the end of the day, we drove over the famous bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh to our destination: Skye. An island that has legendary status among travelers for a reason.

Wednesday, April 30 – The Magic of Skye

Skye did not disappoint. The Quiraing, with its otherworldly shapes, and the imposing Old Man of Storr left everyone silent. Via Portree, with its quaint colored cottages, we left the island again. After lunch we crossed the land to the rugged highlands of The Cairngorms. There awaited the MacDonald Aviemore Resort for a good dinner and a good night’s sleep.

Thursday, May 1 – Battle in the borders

The rally took on a new face on day four: competition. In the vast Scottish Borders, the standings were shaken up considerably. Between the hills, along rivers and on deserted roads the participants fought for every point. After passing between Edinburgh and Glasgow, we reached the atmospheric MacDonald Hotel Cardrona.

Friday, May 2 – All or nothing

The last day. And that one was anything but a quiet ride out. On the contrary – the standings were still wide open. Every turn, every clue in the route book could make the difference. And it did. Only in the final kilometers did it become clear who would go home with the trophies. Just like last year, the decision in some classes literally fell in the last kilometer.

We ended as we had begun: stylishly. In a castle, Langley Castle. whose name remained a secret until the very end. There we enjoyed a well-deserved lunch and final moments together. Then we drove in convoy to the ferry, where we embarked at 4:00 pm. During dinner the winners of the Dutch Mini Rally 2025 were honored. The bar was working overtime that evening.

Saturday, May 3 – Back home

At 10:00 am, the boat docked in IJmuiden harbor. The Dutch Mini Rally 2025 was over – a week full of adventure, beauty, friendship and competition. An edition never to be forgotten.
